pH Miracle Diet Basics

The pH Miracle Diet is the complete opposite of the high-protein, low carbohydrate diets you may have seen in the past. This diet, which is also called the Alkaline Diet, takes a different approach to nutrition.

Since the human body is slightly alkaline, the idea behind the pH Miracle Diet is to have our diet most comprised of alkaline foods. Most of the standard American diet (SAD) foods are considered acidic. These foods include animal protein, sugar, caffeine and processed foods.

The pH Miracle Diet claims that acidic foods can disrupt the pH balance in the body and cause all sorts of health problems. Acidic foods disrupt the body’s use of alkaline minerals such as sodium, potassium, magnesium and calcium.

Whatever food we put into our bodies has a profound and lasting effect on our overall health. The pH Miracle Diet also omits wheat products including grains such as wheat, millet, oaks and rice as they acidic foods. If you want to still have grains in your diet then dry the alkaline grains such as buckwheat, quinoa and spelt.

All meats and dairy are omitted on the pH Miracle Diet although goat milk, which is slightly alkaline, can be taken. Vegetable protein sources include beans, tofu and certain nuts and seeds.

Most vegetables have an alkalizing effect except for mushrooms (which are not a vegetable but a fungi) and fruits are limited to coconut, grapefruit, lemons and limes.

Lowering your intake of processed foods and eating more vegetables is great for your health, and whether or not you following this program faithfully, you will still repeat many health benefits if you limit acidic foods in your diet.
